Interview with Erik Gonzalez

Picture
Detective Croy:I have been working in this field for a really long time. "Despite definitional differences, the relationship between gang membership and delinquent activity is one that has been well documented"(Bjerregaard 38).When I began to investigate  I noticed that this crime was related to gang affiliation. It is because of this that although I talked to Ms. Rodriguez about her boyfriend, I decided to talk to him personally. Not only will it help me track down Marco Hernandez, but his testimony can help me in future cases.
The interview began:
Croy:Good afternoon Mr. Gonzalez, I think you know why we are both here correct?
Gonzalez:Yes sir.
Croy:Okay, to start off I want to know whether or not you are affiliated with a gang and which one it is.
Gonzalez: I have been part of the Latin Kings for about 3 years now, but I am trying to quit. I wanted to start a family with my baby girl and Jeanette, but that cold hearted Marco had to take my baby girl away from me! He will pay. I want him in jail. I am planning to live with Jeanette in our own place away from here.
Croy:Well, can you tell me how you became affiliated with the Latin Kings?
Gonzalez:Okay, well my brother was in it. I don't know since when but he was. He gave me a gun to protect myself in case someone ever tried to do something to me. A couple weeks after one of my brother's boys approached me and asked if I was intersted in joining.  I didn't think anything of it. My brother was in it and it seemed pretty cool so I just joined.
Croy:"Research shows that gangs may be more likely to recruit certain types of juveniles: for example, those who already own guns for protection purposes"(Bjerregaard, Lizotte 53).
This makes perfect sense.
Croy:Do you know where Marco and his gang stay at? I know he is a member of the Gangster Disciples.
Gonzalez:Na, I used to, but that coward left after he killed my baby. He is going to pay I tell you. I am not planning on going back to that lifestyle, but I want him in jail! Are you gonna find him? Cops can't even do anything around here!
Croy:"The CPD has both reorganized its core anit-gang rsources and expanded those resources by redefining the mission of its patrol officers in the field and its sworn personnel in administrative units or assigments"(Lemner 419)." I will track him down and punish him like he deserves.
